Why Choose Wesley Dental for your Cosmetic Dental Procedures?

Dr. Wesley has been formally trained in Prothodontics, the specialty of full-mouth restoration and correct oral function. For the overall well being of each patient, he understands that cosmetically pleasing teeth are just as important as correct oral function. A cosmetic smile makeover may consist of something as simple as teeth whitening or as complex as dental implants. Wesley Dental is equipped to do both and every cosmetic procedure in-between. Cosmetic smile makeovers are performed for many reasons and are customized according to each patient’s unique considerations. Dr. Wesley and his staff will carefully listen to your concerns and will discuss the dental cosmetic options that would best improve your overall smile. When choosing Wesley Dental for your dental cosmetic procedures, you can expect to be serviced here, in the comfort of our office, from start to finish. Equipped with the latest advanced technology; Cad-Cam Dental Software, 3D Imaging and Printing, and Digital Radiography, Dr. Wesley and his highly skilled team are able to raise the standard of care by following each step of your cosmetic procedure personally rather then relying on off-site facilities. Integrating these dental cosmetic techniques provides a comprehensive approach to diagnosing, treatment planning, fabricating and maintaining the dental needs of each patient regardless of the eventual cosmetic procedure performed.

Discussing your Cosmetic Dental Options:

Your smile makeover will begin with a thorough exam by Dr. Wesley to assess your current oral health. He’ll discuss his findings and listen to your expectations. He will also ask what you like or dislike about your smile or your teeth. Depending on your goals, Dr. Wesley may recommend something as simple as teeth whitening to revitalize your smile or changing your silver (amalgam) fillings to tooth-colored composite fillings. If you are looking for a more dramatic cosmetic makeover, veneers, crowns or dental implants may be just right for you. Each one of these cosmetic procedures will be thoroughly discussed when planning your smile makeover.

For every dental cosmetic problem there is a solution. Rest assured, that solving your dental cosmetic issues and creating your dream smile is a team effort at Wesley Dental. Dr. Wesley, along with his highly skilled staff, will work closely with you to develop a treatment plan designed to achieve exactly what you want from your dental cosmetic makeover. Your treatment plan may consist of one or a few of the cosmetic and functionally restorative solutions listed below:

Teeth Whitening or Bleaching:

Teeth WhiteningTeeth whitening or bleaching is one of the easiest ways to achieve a mini smile makeover. While Brushing and Flossing can help keep your teeth bright, white and healthy you may still feel like your smile is lacking some sparkle or is more yellow than it used to be. You are not alone. Teeth whitening or bleaching is one of the most “asked about” cosmetic dental procedures. A bright smile can add a more youthful appearance and often gives you a great reason to smile more!

Teeth whitening can certainly improve the color of your stained or dulled teeth. While there are several “one-size-fits-all” over-the-counter whitening stripes and whitening toothpastes to choose from, they may not give you the desired results you are looking for. Teeth WhiteningProfessional teeth whitening may be the best course of action for you. Almost all patients benefit from the use of professional teeth whitening products. Wesley Dental can help determine which product will give you the best result possible.

At Wesley Dental we have three teeth whitening options to choose from.

  • Professional Strength Teeth Whitening Strips: this option is the most familiar to patients and has easy to follow instructions for home application use. A sticky clear plastic strip coated with a bleaching agent is easily placed on the front side of your teeth. Usually worn for a few hours or overnight, over several days, depending on the result you are trying to achieve.
  • Professional Strength Teeth Whitening Gel with Take Home Trays: this option requires an impression of your upper and lower arch so bleaching trays can be fabricated. The trays are used to hold a teeth whitening bleaching gel. The trays are custom-fitted and are usually worn for a few hours or overnight, over a few days. Wesley Dental is equipped with a 3D Scanner and Printer. This advanced technology allows the Wesley team to take a digital (gag-free) impression and print your teeth whitening bleaching trays while you wait. No need to return for your trays. You can start the teeth whitening process as soon as you get home!
  • Professional Teeth Whitening In-Office Power Bleaching: this option only requires about an hour of your time. We do all the work! We first place a gel or a rubber shield on your gums as a temporary protective barrier. We then apply a professional bleaching agent to your teeth. A special light or laser is then used to enhance the process by activating the bleaching agent. That’s it! You will leave Wesley Dental with a brighter and more confident smile!

Composite Fillings:

Composite FillingsSilver (amalgam) dental fillings can be replaced with natural looking, composite fillings. For years, amalgam was the only option for filling cavities. Those who wanted natural-looking restorations had to opt for more expensive and often more invasive cosmetic treatments. While composite fillings are an obvious alternative to amalgam fillings, the same material used in composite fillings can also be used to repair chipped, broken, or worn teeth; better known as Dental Bonding. These composite restorations can be technique-sensitive and require experience and knowledge utilizing the composite filling material. A composite filling or dental bonding restoration will almost disappear when blended properly with the remaining natural tooth structure. Dr. Wesley has extensive training and experience with color-matching and using composite filling material.

Generally asked for as a cosmetic solution, composite fillings aren’t merely used for cosmetic reasons. Composite fillings have become standard care for restoring a decayed tooth structure. Unlike amalgam restorations, composite fillings are chemically bonded to the remaining tooth structure, which provides an improved seal and helps strengthen the tooth foundation. If done properly, the natural appearance of a composite filling or dental bonding is just an added benefit to a long-lasting restoration. Now you don’t have to settle. Composite fillings not only restore your teeth, but can also give you the natural-looking smile you deserve!

Porcelain Veneers:

VeneersPorcelain veneers (sometimes called porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of your teeth. Porcelain veneers are most often used to correct slight imperfections such as, color, shape, size, length or small gaps. Using a strong adhesive the porcelain veneer shells are easily bonded to the front of your teeth. Once your porcelain veneer is properly positioned a special light beam is used causing the adhesive to harden and cure very quickly. The porcelain veneer procedure can quickly improve the overall appearance of your teeth and give you the confidence to smile again. Experience and knowledge utilizing the latest advanced techniques are necessary for a successful porcelain veneer restoration. The correct preparation of your tooth for your porcelain veneer is essential. This important step creates room for the porcelain veneer to fit within the mouth while restoring natural tooth function and creating a better appearance than the original tooth. Choosing the proper color and shape of your porcelain veneer is also technique-sensitive and special consideration should be given to your natural tooth color as well as the tone and color of your face and hair. As an experienced Prosthodontist, (the specialty of full-mouth restoration and correct oral function) Dr. Wesley has the extensive training necessary to achieve the porcelain veneer result you deserve.

Porcelain Veneers are routinely used to fix:

  • Discolored Teeth possibly caused by: root canal treatment; stains from tetracycline or other medications, excessive fluoride; or large resin fillings that have discolored the tooth
  • Worn down or uneven front teeth
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped teeth
  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Teeth that do not respond well to teeth whitening or power bleaching

Benefits of Porcelain Veneers:

  • Since porcelain veneers are individually sculpted for each patient, it is nearly impossible to tell the difference between a veneer and a natural tooth.
  • Unlike natural teeth, custom-made porcelain veneers resist coffee and tea stains, and cigarette smoke because they are made of high-tech materials.
  • Gum tissue responds well to the porcelain material used to create veneers.
  • With porcelain veneers, as opposed to crowns, your natural teeth remain largely intact with only a minimal amount being altered to fit the veneer.
  • For teeth that resist whitening, veneers can make even the darkest teeth appear bright white.

Wesley Dental is equipped with the latest advanced technology. Our E4D Dental System, allows for extremely precise digital scans and on-site custom designing and fabrication of your final porcelain veneer restorations. Implementing this method bypasses conventional, messy impressions, and temporary porcelain veneers, which require additional office visits to complete these procedures. Dr. Wesley and his highly skilled staff are able to raise the standard of care by following each step of your porcelain veneer restoration personally rather then relying on off-site dental lab facilities. Solutions for Missing Teeth:

One or more missing teeth can negatively affect the appearance of your smile – not to mention your confidence. It is important to address missing teeth as soon as possible. Not only for cosmetic reasons, but more importantly to maintain facial esthetics and healthy oral function of your teeth. A missing tooth or teeth can severely affect your bite and may cause further damage to your overall dental health. A missing tooth or teeth may require a dental implant, bridge or partial denture. For more information on these dental procedures you can click on the links or visit the Wesley Dental home page. Please make an appointment today so we can start planning a healthy, happy smile makeover for you.

Additional Dental Solutions to meet your Cosmetic Goal:

Depending on your situation sometimes more aggressive treatments are needed to achieve your overall cosmetic smile makeover. Putting a “cosmetic face” on a weak foundation is a temporary solution and won’t give you the lifetime smile you deserve. Please know that Wesley Dental will work with you to help you achieve the smile you have always dreamed of. Orthodontics, Dental Crowns, Inlays or Onlays, Single Implants or Implant Supported Crowns or Bridges may be recommended to achieve the best long-term results.
